Of course the forecast is for rain most of the day, but we’ll make the most of it.
The drift course is famous for high speed entries. Last event I drove there I was pretty cautious and only took it up to 90. I plan to shoot for 100 tomorrow if I can get some dry pavement. Otherwise my rainy track entries might be at about 30.
More later.
UPDATE:
It rained on and off the entire day. But I had a blast none-the-less. For one short spell in the late morning the track dried up a bit, to maybe what you’d call damp, and I got up to 80 mph for two entries. But the rain came back and that pushed me back down to about 60.
Here are a few pictures my son caught of me in the infield, the slower part of the course.

2004 GTO, BC coil overs, cut knuckles, and welded diff.
Stock LS-1 and T-56.
Bought it new and babied it until 2010. Then decided it was time not to baby it anymore.

That sounds exciting.
For the high speed entries to you unsettle the car, clutch kick in 3rd and hope it dosent grip up mid corner? Ive always wondered how the high speed entries work

I tried 3rd and 4th. I don’t often clutch kick and I don’t often e brake. I typically just give it a little toss and stab the throttle.
4th worked okay in the wet. The prior event went there it was dry, but I don’t think I tried 4th much. For 3rd and 4th I ended up straightening out before I got to the first hairpin and had to re-initiate. It is a long way to drift the entire first turn. You really need the speed as you enter.
I think you have to know pretty well how your car feels when it is gripping up because you really have to respond quickly if it does. And it did grip up a few times on me even being wet.

Don’t clutch kick because it snaps the car too abruptly or it’ll be excessive wear/don’t need to?
What sort of tire pressures did you run?

For the most part I don’t have to with the LS and it seems like such abuse. But I’ve seen a lot of drifters get away with a lot of clutch kicking.
I show up with 40. If I like it I let a little out as it heats up to keep it at 40. If I don’t like it I let a little more out here and there and stop if it gets worse
